Transform Your Garden on a Budget with These Tips

It’s that time of year! Gardens are flourishing, colourful and fragrant and you want your garden to be the same. The only problem? You’re on a budget. Gardening can be an expensive endeavour if you’re not careful. The bill can grow faster than your plants. You will be happy to know that there are ways to spruce up that garden on a budget.

Grow from Seeds

Planting and growing flowers from seeds is much cheaper than buying starter plants. You can even visit your local Dollarstore to find seeds for your garden.

Garage Sale

Check garage sales or buy and sell sites for items you can use in your garden. When doing their own landscaping, may people over purchase and sell their over stock for cheap. You can find things like gardening tools, patio stones, extra bricks you can use for your garden and so much more.

Compost

Doing your own composting is great for the environment and provides you with a rich and hearty mulch you can use in your garden.

Ask a Friend

There are many different plants that can be grown from cuttings or by splitting over sized plants. Before you go out shopping ask friends if they have anything they’d be willing to part with.

Plant Perennials

Annuals only live for one season, but perennials come up year after year. Fill your garden with perennials for a budget-friendly choice. At the start, this may cost you a little more however, it’s a one time expense that pays for itself year after year.

Solar Lights

There are many great solar powered lanterns and lights out there. The ones that can go around your garden and light up at night add romance to your garden. These can even be purchased at the Dollarstore.

There are many great ways to spruce up your garden on a budget this spring that will have you excited to start gardening.
