The Library Hotel in NYC
Trina Stewart, the associate publisher and writer with HOSS Magazine, recently stayed at The Library Hotel in NYC. And yes, she even caught the 'Big Apple' napping.
Last week I wrote about my experience at the Hotel Elysée, just one of the boutique hotels of the Library Hotel Collection. Our second stop was the Library Hotel, located at 299 Madison Avenue (Madison & East 41st Street, in New York City). Who can forget that infamous moment in the movie The Day After Tomorrow where Jake Gyllenhaal frantically tries to rescue Emma Rossum from an oncoming massive wave heading straight towards the New York City Public Library. Yes, the Library Hotel is located on that street about a block away.Very neat, indeed.
For us Gen-X book lovers, the unique attraction of the Library Hotel is thatthey have a collection of over 6,000 books that are organized by the Dewey Decimal System. Each of the 10 guestroom floors honours one of the 10 categories of the DDS and each of their 60 rooms are uniquely adorned with books and art exploring a distinctive topic within the category it belongs to.
Are you kicking up romance a notch during your NYC Vacation? Then room 1100.006 on the 11th floor of the The Library Hotel is the room for you!You just may never leave!
Another wonderful thing about The Library Hotel is the location. This hotel is just a few short blocks away from Bryant Park, Grand Central Terminal, Rockefeller Centre, and the Empire State Building.
Madison & Vine, the hotel’s American Bistro and International Wine Bar serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. Casually elegant, it’s one of the neighborhood’s most popular spots to enjoy a quick bite and a glass of wine or an exquisite meal.
Every evening the 14th Floor at the Library Hotel features the Writer’s Den and Poetry Garden and Terrace transforms into Bookmarks Lounge, an intimate rooftop bar offering literary inspired cocktails with city views.
Like all hotels within the Library Hotel Collection, guests receives free wi-fi, complimentary breakfast, access to the Reading Room 24-hours a day with a selection of fresh brewed coffee, cappuccino, teas, water, cookies, and fruits and complimentary wine & hors d'oeuvres reception every evening from 5pm - 8pm.
I really loved the ambiance of The Library Hotel as it would be an ideal place to take my husband. It’s tranquil, relaxing and located in the heart of Manhattan, so it includes the hustle and bustle we look forward to when going to the city.
I will admit, my travel partner and I enjoyed the Sak’s Fifth Avenue holiday display, drinks at Bar SixtyFive in the Rockfeller Centre, and a few more drinks at a local Irish Pub. After seeing my partner safely to our room on a cold Monday night, I went downstairs and strolled across the street to Stout NYC Grand Central for a nightcap after an amazing night. I was appreciative to see that the bellhop was watching me all the same. It was at that moment I look around at the deserted street and I realized that I actually caught NYC napping.
