Stay In Dracula’s Castle On Halloween
If you love things all spooky and vampires, well then Airbnb has a contest that will give you the chills… but in a good way of course.
The online peer-to-peer marketplace and homestay network that allows people to list or rent short-term lodging in residential properties will give two lucky winners the chance to spend the night in Dracula’s Transylvania castle on Halloween.
The castle’s actual name is Bran Castle and is a national monument and landmark in Romania. Well over 630,000 people from around the world visit the castle each year. This Halloween (October 31) will mark the first time anyone has slept in the Transylvanian fortress since 1948.
According to Airbnb, the two winners will be served up the best eats and drinks, and come bedtime they will actually get to sleep in red-velvet trimmed coffins like Dracula did in Bram Stoker’s classic horror novel.
Darce Stroker, a descendant of Bram Stoker, will be the host at Dracula’s castle for the evening. Stroker will play the role of Jonathan Harker, the character in the popular novel who encounters Dracula.
During an interview with NBC News, Stoker stated, “I want to make it both realistic and show the legend in the wonderful country that birthed the whole thing.”
The winners will arrive at the castle in a horse-drawn carriage, and Stoker will greet them with the popular words from the famous novel: “Welcome to my house! Enter freely. Go safely, and leave something of the happiness you bring!”
Here are the House Rules that are posted on Airbnb’s website:
